Figure 1. Equipment that controls people, materials and air is what turns a room into a controlled environment.
A cleanroom is more than filters and wall panels. The equipment that controls how people, materials and air move is what turns a room into a controlled environment. Work through this checklist — air showers, pass boxes, FFUs, clean benches, build-out materials and ESD protection — before you order anything, and you will avoid the most common cleanroom mistakes.
Personnel flow — air showers
People are the biggest source of contamination in any cleanroom. An air shower at the entry removes loose particles from garments with high-velocity, HEPA-filtered air before staff enter the controlled area.
- Size and number: one unit per 10–15 people per shift is a common starting point; cycles typically run 10–30 seconds.
- Interlock: doors must not open while the shower is running.
- Look for: stainless steel body, no-slip floor, automatic sensors, easy-to-replace HEPA filters.
Material flow — pass boxes
A pass box lets materials cross the cleanroom wall without letting contaminated air in.
- Static pass box: two interlocked doors — only one can be open at a time.
- Dynamic pass box: adds an air purge or UV light to clean the material surface during transfer.
- Match the size to your largest regular container, and position the box between the dirty corridor and the cleanroom.
Air supply — FFUs or AHU with HEPA supply outlets
Clean air must reach the work zone in the right volume and pattern. Two standard approaches:
Table 1. FFU vs. central AHU + HEPA supply outlets.
| FFU (fan filter unit) | AHU + HEPA air supply outlet |
|---|---|
| Self-powered unit with built-in fan and HEPA | Central air handling unit feeding terminal HEPA outlets |
| Modular, easy to retrofit and expand | Best for large, consistent loads |
| Per-unit speed control | Central control, lower running cost at scale |
| Good for ISO 7–8 upgrades and partitions | Standard for complete cleanroom systems |
WISHE FFU units are self-powered with HEPA filtration for modular terminal supply; HEPA air supply outlets serve cleanrooms from Class 1,000 to Class 100,000. For local work zones, a clean bench — horizontal or vertical laminar flow — creates a high-cleanliness island for handling and assembly.
Build-out materials — panels, doors, windows, diffusers, louvers
The envelope must be cleanable, airtight and seamless. Checklist:
- Sandwich wall and ceiling panels with sealed joints
- Airtight cleanroom doors with vision windows and interlock options
- Ceiling diffusers matched to the HEPA grid
- Return air louvers sized for balanced airflow
- Profiles, seals and installation accessories — all part of WISHE’s build-out material range
Static control & ESD protection
If you process electronics, optics or sensitive components, static is a contamination issue too. Static charge attracts particles and can destroy components.
- Ionizers and ion bars neutralize charge on surfaces and materials in the airflow.
- Anti-static garments, gloves, shoes and ESD mats form the personal protection layer.
- Set ESD thresholds with your process team and verify them with a surface resistance meter.
Coating line support — curing equipment
If your cleanroom feeds a coating line, the curing stage is part of the ecosystem. WISHE supplies conveyor UV curing machines, such as the RX200-1 and RX200-2 with 200 mm belts and the RX300-1 with a 300 mm belt, plus ovens, radiant burners, and plasma or corona treatment units for surface preparation.

| Phase | What to verify | WISHE category |
|---|---|---|
| Planning | Target ISO class; air changes; personnel & material flow; ESD thresholds | All categories |
| Construction | Panels sealed; doors & windows airtight; diffusers/louvers installed; pass boxes & air showers positioned | Build-out; Equipment |
| Commissioning | Airflow & pressure cascade tested; HEPA leak-tested; air shower & interlock cycles verified; ESD flooring grounded | Equipment; ESD |
| Operation | Pressure-drop log; filter replacement schedule; garment & ESD discipline; re-certification per ISO 14644-2 | Filtration; ESD |

Start with the process, not the parts
List every operation that will happen in the room, then choose equipment that supports the flow. Sending WISHE your layout sketch, headcount and material sizes gets you a checklist-specific quotation in one round.
